Description

Originated from a Hindu deity, Yama is a Buddhist figure known throughout Asia with different names and somewhat different physical aspects.

However his purpose remains more or less constant: he is known as the Judge of the Dead, the God of Death, the King of Hell, and King Yan or Yanluo (wrathful god).

He resides in the underworld, were the newly dead are brought to him for judgement, depending on their deeds, they will be rewarded with good future lives, or will be sentenced for torture of terrible future lives.

For this design I mixed some elements together, is the Chinese King Yan the one that wears the hat with the ? character for ?King?, while is the Tibetan Shinje the one that has three eyes, skulls and a more beastly form. Further reading much recommended.
